JFK to Newark isn't a trek I'd want to take any time, any day.
There are basically hourly flights from LGA to DFW. Call AA and see if they can put you on a flight out of LGA instead of Newark.
JFK to LaGuardia is 15-30min portal to portal by taxi.

there are also bus services ie. super shuttle or the NY airport service, and they are less expensive than cabs but you should allow plenty of time - 2-3 hours at least, before you ahve to be at teh airport. better off staying on one side of the river.

JFK to Newark is a major trek - and if you hit traffic, accident or bad weather just the time on the road can be 2 hours. Never mind time getting from plane with luggage out to cab and then doing check-in, security at the other end. I wouldn't attempt this in less than 5 hours.
There used to be a shuttle bus between the 2 - but I have heard it has been cancelled. You need to check with JFK web site on that. Otherwise it's cab or car serrvice - I assume more than $100.
Really - it wold be much better to get a plane out of JFK - or LGA if necessary.

The Port Authority website has all the info you need:

Contrary to nytraveler's post, there is still hourly shuttle service (Airporter: www.goairporter.com ) between both airports, takes approx. 90 mins.
Agree with others that such a transfer should be avoided if at all possible!
Hope this helps,
Andre

Well if the hourly bus service is still running you definitely need to allow yourself 5 hours - since waiting for the bus and getting to EWR can easily take 2.5 hours. And your ongoing flight probably wants you to check in luggage 2 hours in advance.
