JFK To Manhattan for 5 people
Hi
Visiting New York late October. What would be the best & economial way to get to Manhattan . How many people will a taxim take with luggage etc. Thanks in advance. Trevor |
Many of the taxis in the US are actually mini-vans, especially at airports. % people plusa luggage should not be a problem - just tell the guy at the front of the taxi queue what you need. Not the MOST economical (see above post) , but not bad considering the size of your group.

Well the flat rate cab fare from JFK to Manhattan is $35 + toll & tip, assuming they don't charge extra for 5 people. I think this will be cheaper than a bus for 5 which charges per person.
Ther is no flat rate on the return from NY to JFK though. You pay by the meter. |
A taxi will not take 5 people. The mini van taxi suggested in another post is not a mini van - just looks like one but smaller. Limit is 4 people. You can get a minivan from a car service which will take 5 and all the luggage. Cost for]b a Tel Aviv minivan would be about $50 with tip and toll. Two\ taxis to midtown would cost about $50 tip and toll included. This would be less e]xpensive than 5 people taking the airport bus .]

Rob is correct -- even the minivan taxis cannot accept 5 people. It's an insurance issue.
Your best bet would be a car service. Try Carmel (212-666-6666). It's always been reliable for me. Enjoy NYC! |
I second the vote for calling Carmel car service. We use them here at work and never have a problem. The bus can take you, but it will cost $12 pp and will take about an hour to get into Manhattan.

Call the Super Shuttle folks (the blue van) and arrange for your private van.
www.supershuttle.com very reliable service and their prices are unbelieveable. |
