JFK to La Guardia - transport options and cost?

I am coming in from overseas and have to go from JFK to La Guardia, to get my domestic connection.
Is taxi the easiest way, if I am traveling alone with several pieces of luggage? What is the approximate cost? My overseas flight arrives midmorning. How much time should I allow to comfortably make my connection at La Guardia? Is traffic usually an issue when traveling between those 2 airports?

Hi Lindsey,
If you are traveling alone with several pieces of luggage a taxi between the two airports is the best option. It will cost approximately $15 to $20. Traffic can be a factor any time of day between JFK and LGA. If there is none it will take 10 minutes and if there is a complete traffic jam it could take an hour so leave yourself at least that amount of time to be on the safe side.

JohnK,
Thanks so much. My taxi plan is much more appealing now that I know the fare and distance are reasonable.
Lindsey

The only way you'll make it from JFK to LaGuardia in 10 minutes is if your driver is Mario Andretti. It'll take nearly 10 minutes just to get out of JFK! Figure more like 25-30 minutes w/out traffic, 45 minutes to 1 hour with.

Definitely go via taxi, but make sure you confirm the price of the ride beforehand.

Have fun.

10 miles, $20 by taxi. Door to door will take around 15 minutes, with traffic between 20 and 30 minutes.

The trip time will vary depending on traffic. However, under normal conditions, one should expect the trip to be about 20 min. I think the hardest part will be getting the taxi at JFK.

Is getting a taxi difficult at JFK because the queue is so long? (It's been years since I was there and I don't remember the local transportation situation.) Is there a reasonably priced car service I could book ahead of time to meet me at JFK?
