JFK Terminal 2 to 1

I'm looking at a 1 hour connection time from Terminal 2 (Domestic arrival on Delta) to Terminal 1 (Air France international). Will be codeshare. Do I have enough time? Will I have to re-enter through security?

Air France usually leaves late but Delta is sometimes late also.

This doesn't sound possible to me given that you're generally asked to arrive at the airport 2-3 hrs. before for an international flight. I'd phone both airlines and only consider this if it's on ONE ticket. As to luggage, if you have to claim it you're dead and if you get it checked all the way through, you'll likely lose it. Not a good option.

This sounds like no problem to me.

You mention codeshare. Delta and AF are both Skyteam alliance, so you will get a AF boarding pass at your origin and your bags will be tagged all the way through.

At JFK you can walk or take the AirTrain from T2 to T1 in <10min (T2 arriving gate to T1 security). It's about the same either way by foot or by train.

The 2-3hr recommendation is for originating airport. At JFK, you'll have to go through security, but T1 security is usually pretty fast, and AF uses a gate very close to security.

I see no problem at all.

I wouldn;t do it. Too many opportunities for problems due to problems with incoming flight (weather, equipment problem etc) and you have NO leeway - since you still have to get through security at Air France.

If it's written as a single ticket you may want to take the chance - but be sure you have at least 2 days clothes in your carry-on.

I don't think there is any way you can do that in an hour. Flights are routely late coming into JFK, and if there is any bad weather, the problem gets worse.

You might consider staying overnight and fly out the next day.

Thanks to all for the advice. Understanding the time between terminals and the need to go through security again, were my major concerns. I'm going to continue to monitor the schedules and perhaps the schedule will change enough to give me more leaway.
