JFK overnight hotel recommendation?
Any recommendations regarding which hotel at JFK to stay at? All current posts on this topic are pretty old. We like a quiet room, so are thinking that maybe eliminates Holiday Inn Express (with those ACs)

In general the JFK hotels are not very good. Unless you're coming in really late and leaving very early the next morning, stay in the city.
Here's a link to the reviews page on tripadvisor. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev..._New_York.html |
We've beem staying at the Doubletree Hotel at JFK lately (when we have those oh so early flights). It's been fine for the purpose it serves (hate the Holiday Inn, the Ramada is scary to me). Rooms are quiet and shuttle service is prompt!

We used Fairfield Inn by Marriott during the recent winter storm when we got stranded by JFK. Nothing special, but the price was good and the beds comfy, not to mention they had a decent breakfast included and the staff was helpful.

Have you tried Priceline? ((*))

Thanks to you all for your input. We're going to try Fairfield - - it's just an overnight before an early morning flight. I didn't try Priceline because I thought you have to take the hotel they give you. Am I correct?

For "just an overnight before an early morning flight", what you want is a reasonable hotel. You choose the area and star level. What can be bad about 3* Doubletree JKF Airport or Crowne Plaza?
PL doesn't give you a hotel. You submit a bid, they submit it to tht hotels in the area and star level you choose, and they either accept your bid or not. Whichever accepts it, that's which you get. And if your bid isn't accepted, you can just quit. I usually bid up to 1/2 the regular price. I and many satisfied travelers will tell you that PL works. It simply is the best way to get a hotel at a good price, provided you know how the system works. It takes study, but it works. I just got great hotels at great prices in Charleston and Savannah from PL. FYI - Fairfield is rated 2* on BFT (biddingfortravel.com). It may be perfectly fine for your needs, but you probably can get the same at lower rates with PL. Check out http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34972463 ((*)) |
Thanks for the info on PL
