JFK Airport Info.........
I'm flying into JFK from ATL on Delta and arrive at Terminal 3. I fly out of Terminal 2 and I have a 2:40 layover which should be time to get from 3 to 2. I have never been into JFK. Can you explain the tram or shuttle system available to get you from one terminal to the other. Is it a tram like ATL or do you have to get on a shuttle bus. Thanks.

Delta has an airside (beyond security) shuttle that runs between T3 and T2.
http://www.delta.com/traveling_check...ewyork_jfk.jsp There is also the AirTrain that runs a loop around to all terminals - it is outside security. You'll want to use the airside shuttle bus. |
No No No.
J62 gave BAD advice here. The AirTrain has one station for Terminals 2 and 3. The two terminals are connected by a walkway that is INSIDE the security checkpoint whereby travelers connecting between the two terminals can do so without having to go through security again. Ike: this is the hazard in relying upon someone else instead of your own research on Google, which would lead you directly to the Port Authority of NY/NJ website (http://www.panynj.gov) and its maps that show the information I just gave you above. I hope you haven't already traveled by the time this is posted. |
Actually, for the record, you're both right.
J62 is correct that there is an airside shuttle bus that connects Terminals 2 and 3, but the real purpose of this shuttle is to connect to the Delta flights at Terminal 4, which is not connected to Terminals 2 and 3 by any other airside walkway (i.e., you have to take the Airtain otherwise to get from Terminal 2/3 to 4. I believe that it's sometimes quicker to take the Shuttle bus between 2 and 3 than to walk. That has at least been reported by some posters here, and I believe them. It's a long walk. BigRuss is also correct that you could also walk from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3. J62's statement about the Airtrain is confusing, however. You don't use the Airtrain to connect between these two terminals. |
Yep - my mistake about the AirTrain - I was thinking T1-T2.
You might note, bigruss, that a google search would also pull up the delta website info I posted. |
I'm certain you're right that the delta site would pop up, J62.
The point here is that J62's info would send him outside security and getting through security at the NY area airports is a chore. This is especially true for domestic flights at JFK. |
