Jersey shore hotels
Hi we were thinking of spending a few days at the jersey shore this summer after visiting family. We have never been to wildwood/cape may area(we grew up in North jersey). I have been looking for hotels and everything looks so seedy. Is there a nice Jersey shore hotel? It doesn't necessarily have to be in the wildwood area.

My friend and her family always stay at the Pan Am in Wildwood Crest. Good luck with your search.

There are many nice motels in North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest as well as in Ocean City, Cape May and other areas of the Jersey Shore.
Almost every hotel/motel/B&B in Atlantic and Cape May counties is listed on www.MyJerseyShore.com. Let us know which one you picked and how you liked it. |
We have stayed at
- The Windrift, Avalon/Stone Harbor (it is on the border, can't remember which town it is in). It is beachfront which is nice and minimal walking. Of course, you pay for that privilege. - Concord Suites - Avalon. You get a little suite with a fridge and microwave and separate bedroom. Further walk to the beach, but the suite is nice. I'm not a huge Wildwood fan, so I personally would avoid there. |
We used to rent houses on Long Beach Isand. When we were kids, we went to seaside, which I think is a dump now?
We thought, hey after your mother's surprise bday party, lets all go "down the jersey shore" for a few days. Well, I have searched and there doesn't seem to be a decent looking hotel/motel on the ocean. My DH mentioned wildwood as we have never been there and I said maybe cape may? (less seedy). Has anyone stayed at the port royal in wildwood? I am looking on all the hotel websites and many of the rooms look like they were last refurbished in 1975 and they are not cheap!LOL I will check out all of your recommendations. Thanks~ |
Sorry have not trolled the US board in a while and this may be a bit late for you. I don’t know where your surprise birthday party will be, and whether you are tied to staying in south Jersey beaches. I can only really recco some places in north Jersey.
Other than Atlantic City, in most of New Jersey there are only a very few hotels on the beach itself as the real estate is too expensive. You might consider Atlantic City, its of course quite built up. A few B& Bs and hotels in northern Jersey beaches to consider would be as follows, some are across the street from the beach, some are a few blocks away, one is on the beach: The Grenville 345 Main Ave. Bay Head, NJ 08742 Email: [email protected] Phone: (732) 892-0599 Fax: (732) 892-0599 http://www.thegrenville.com/ Conover's Bay Head Inn 646 Main Ave Bay Head NJ 800-956-9099 732-892-4664 http://www.conovers.com/ The Breakers 1507 Ocean Avenue Spring Lake Phone: (732) 449-7700 breakershotel.com Surfside Motel 101 Broadway Point Pleasant Beach 732-899-1109 http://www.surfside-motel.com White Sands Ocean Front Resort Hotel 1106 Ocean Ave. Point Pleasant Beach 732-899-3370 http://www.thewhitesands.com This is right on the beach. Point Pleasant Manor 310 Sea Ave. Point Pleasant Beach 732-899-7300 http://www.pleasantmanor.com/ Bay Head and Spring Lake are both particularly nice towns with real downtowns and good restaurants. Point Pleasant Beach has a cute little downtown area too. For beaches in this area, there is a nice boardwalk at Jenkinson's in Point Pleasant with the obligatory cotton candy and rides, the whole Jersey Shore experience. They also have an aquarium which is good for a rainy day. Take a look at http://www.jenkinsons.com/. Also, you can rent boats and go into the bay areas. Day fishing boat trips are also on offer. Seaside, which is also in the area, is a bit better than it used to be, but does not have a lot of nice hotels I would say. As far as “cuteness” in B&Bs, Cape May is probably your best choice, although Spring Lake is quite lovely really. For a list of other B&B's go to http://www.jerseyboardwalk.com/bed.htm. I am sure it is too late at this point (but with the recession maybe not) but perhaps you could look into renting a house on Long Beach Island or elsewhere. |
