Jazz in Honolulu

Would appreciate suggestions for places to go for jazz in Honolulu. I've heard of Chuck's Alley and the Indigo Restaurant (never been to either place) but don't know if that info is current. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I've been watching this post here & on TA, wondering the same. I just don't remember hearing much about jazz or reading it in the local papers while in Waikiki.

There is an events calendar for each island at www.gohawaii.com under "Plan Your Trip" (thank you Dusty!) you could check for any special events or concerts.

If you click on the link above & click on Venue List, this is what comes up:

The way I read it is that there are many bars/clubs that have jazz at least occasionally. You just need to see the calendar to see where there is jazz when you are there.

You can also click on the calendar dates to see where on that date.

I responded to this thread yesterday, thanking you both, but it doesn't seem to be here now. In any case, thanks for your help. I've bookmarked the URLs for future reference. Wish I knew more about the performers. Noted one place was featuring jazz funk/rap. That's not my kind of jazz! LOL I'm sure we'll find something while we're there. Thanks again for the info.

we didn't go, but a waitress at Duke's told us that a good place for jazz was the bar at the Halekulani. Not House without a Key, but their lounge. I think you need to be a little bit nicely dressed to go there, not formal, but collared shirts and nice pants.

Don't miss out on the Hawaiian music and dance. It's very easy to find, most often free. At lots of the bars along hte beach, various stages around town. There's also twice weekly free concerts of the Royal Hawaiian Band (orchestra) at Iolani Palace and the Waikiki Shell. Things like that.

Honolulu Advertiser's Friday edition has a TGIF section. It has a list of locations & musicians. Some on the list say what type of music. There are some for jazz.

It is also in the online edition.

Mouse over TGIF, click on TGIF Calendar

It is updated on Fridays.

Another music calendar. Looks like they update it on Wednesdays:
