Jazz festival

Any information would be greatly appreciated. How crowded is it? Is it worth going? How many stages etc. Thanks!

Which jazz festival are you talking about?

If you're talking about the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, it's definitely worth attending. It can be crowded (particularly second weekend) and has 10-15 stages of various size/scope. The Fest is held at the Fairgrounds, away from the Quarter, and is pretty self-contained. Lots of great food and music and, for $20 daily admission, it's a great deal!

The 2002 Fest is April 26-May 5. Check out:
http://www.insideneworleans.com/partners/nojazzfest/
To help you plan, the first weekend spans three days while the second spans four. It's usually less crowded on the Friday, Thursday/Friday, so try to attend those days if you are crowd-conscious. The second weekend (Sat/Sun) can be particularly overwhelming, as there's a lot of bodies trying to fit in one geographic area before the Fest ends. It does help that you can move from stage to stage area. Despite the crush of people, if you're a music fan, I can't think of any better experience on earth, plus the food at the Fest rivals any meal in the city. Eat some crawfish Monica and cochon de lait for me!
