Jazz Clubs in SF

What jazz clubs should we visit in SF? My husband & I will be there the week after Christmas and will be staying on Powell St (near Union Square). We would be especially interested in a "supper club" atmosphere but a late night spot would be of interest if it's in easy reach of our hotel.

I'd be interested to know, too! "Supper Clubs" seem particularly hard to find anywhere.
Does anybody know if the night club in "Blast From the Past" where Brendan Frasier impressed the crowd really exists? That's the kind of place I'm looking for!

SF doesn't really have jazz clubs per se. The absolute best Jazz venue is actually found on the Oakland waterfront, it's called Yoshi's and they get top headliners practically every night of the week.

You can get there combo of BART & a cab.

I live in SF and have never really been able to find a real jazz club here. Often times we go down to JJ Blues or Garden City in San Jose. Yoshi's in Oakland is also nice.

While not really a jazz or supper club, we did have a really good time at "Harry Denton's Starlight Room". Located at the very top of the Sir Francis Drake Hotel--just north of Union Square--HD's Starlight Room is an elegant club featuring live music and late-night hors d' oeurves.

They feature live music several nights a week and something called the "Starlight Orchestra" on the weekends. The orchestra has their own torch singer and plays everything from cocktail jazz to blues to motown. It's a fun place, the appetizers are good and the views of San Francisco are incredible!
