Japanese Restuarant???

Help! I am looking for a nice Japanese restuarant to take my husband for his birthday. There will be a group of us...any recommendations?

opps! I want to find a Japanese restuarant in New York City. I am pretty flexible in terms of where the restuarant is in the city.

Well there are hundreds. Aside from location, price is a big issue as is decor. Do you want a private room? Otabe at 56th betw Madison & Park and Nippon at 52nd betw Lexington & 3rd both have private rooms & good food. Neither is terribly trendy or new & both a bit pricey (but there are plenty that are pricier).

Sushi Hana is more affordable with 2 locations-upper east side & upper west side.

Sushi Sen-nin at 34th betw Madison & Park is excellent, not cheap but good value for the quality of food.

You might want to ask your question on chowhound.com too.

my favorite are Blue Ribbon Sushi and Nobu.

Another vote for Nobu. Be sure to order "omakase" (chef's choice) for the full experience. Don't just get sushi. If you just want sushi go to Blue Ribbon otherwise you might feel ripped off.
