Jackson to Salt Lake City

I'm looking at 3 routes back to Salt Lake City from Jackson, Wyoming.
1. would take us east to Idaho Falls and then south on 15.
2. would take us Hwy 18 to 26 to 30 and connect to 15 just south of Pocatello ID.
3. would keep us on 89 and we'd connect much father south at 84.
We will have driven from Butte to Bozeman to Yellowstone and finally, to Jackson Hole in a fairly short time. I think the first route is fastest, but wonder if it would be worth trying either of the others for scenic or historical reasons. Thanks!

I put this under "general interest" and should have put it under Wyoming, Idaho & Utah. Will ask again under new categories. thanks

bcala,

No need to post it in different locations. They will ALL show up in the General Location.

Over the years we've done all the routes if I had to choose which one stands out most I guess it would be the the last trip when we came down Hwy 89 to Logan. It was a pretty pass.

I agree with Utahtea. Hwy 89 comes down past Bear Lake and through Logan Canyon. Very scenic and relaxing.

If you go east from Jackson, you will not get to Idaho Falls for a long time.

The route west into Idaho over the Teton Pass is one you probably will not forget! It gets a little steep on the west side, but not too bad. The maximum gradient is 11% as I recall, and that section is short.

It is not usually used by people with trailers. Some of the turns are probably too tight for a big RV.

Oops, you're right. I meant west! I always knew I had no sense of direction. Thanks for the replies--we'll go 89, especially if it's not as steep. We'll be driving a rented car and my mother isn't crazy about heights.
