San Francisco Bed & Breakfast

Looking for a four star bed and breakfast in San Francisco, either within walking distance or a short cab ride to Union Square.
Greatly appreciate any suggestions or testamonials.

Although it's not a B&B there is a great little hotel The Andrews Hotel (44 rooms) on Post Street (2 blocks from Union Square) that has the most fabulous breakfast on EACH floor in the a.m. and after 5:00 p.m. a glass of wine inthe adjoining restaurant, Fino.. We've used it twice and wouldn't thnk of going anywhere else...several of our friends feel the same way.. www.andrewshotel.com

Have not personally stayed at the Andrews, but some friends stayed there a few months ago and spoke very favorably of it. They told us about the breakfast served on each floor, as mentioned above, and said the hotel had a definite European feel to it. It is also very well located, with many things of interest within easy walking distance.

Sunshine, there is a restaurant downstairs opened for dinner - stop by for a slice of Tiramisu, best in town!

The Andrews is an old fashioned hotel, i.e, not modern furnishings. If you check in your room I believe there is a special menu in Fino for guests of the hotel which we enjoyed the last time we were there..Since it's close to theatres the restaurants is alway filled, we've enjoyed eating at the bar. The two times we have been there people were always coming in to check to see the availability of rooms, always full up.. For less $$ and I dont remember if there is a continental breakfast they also own the hotel next door.. the Fitzgerald or something like that.
