Jackson Hole Wyoming booked! Activities, Spa, Dining ideas needed!
 

We just booked a week vacation in Jackson Hole at the Four Season's (Got a friend's condo for a great deal!) Can you give me any advice on reasonably priced activities around the area- spa, dining, snowmobiling, ski rental? Thanks!

What a great deal, BTW! I'm jealous.

We rented out skis from the ski mountain resort. They are right out the back door of the Four Seasons. I highly recommend the Italian restaurant at the base of the ski mountain. It's in a new hotel across the way. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of it.
The Four Seasons has a beautiful locker room/ ski valet area.

We have stayed nearby at the Alpenhof Lodge (next door?), and just loved their dining room. Swiss-type food (great fondues), bison and elk, etc. I would make an effort to go back just for the restaurant. By all means, give it a try.

We did go next door for drinks; much larger place. Good for drinks, etc. The Alpenhof is more inn/boutique style.

Drinks! I totally forgot. and really how could I forget the Mangy Moose! A Jackson Hole institution and the best margaritas anywhere. Fantastic and I am a margarita connoisseur. And if you are into spice try the spicy margarita. Not my style but very good.

Oh yes, the Mangy Moose of course! Great atmosphere, and we enjoyed the food very much. More rustic, casual atmosphere, and you can still get bison, elk, etc.

Great recommendations! I should mention we have one vegetarian. I'm hoping that will be fairly easy to accommodate, and the other 3 people enjoy meat.

We are going first week in March.

I suspect vegetarian restaurants are few here, maybe somebody can comment on Lotus Cafe or make other suggestions.

Yes, the Mangy Moose is always great, nice salad bar, fun atmosphere, good food.

You might also like to try the Blue Lion and the Snake River Grill. Snake River is very elegant and very expensive, but very good too.

OK, I've had some wine tonight so I hope this makes sense. . .

For dinner, we loved the place owned by Harrison Ford (at least I think it is owned by him - maybe the Snake River Grill). It is in the main part of town up a flight of stairs. There is a big stuffed buffalo in front of the restaurant.

You have to have a beer at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar - so much fun to sit on a saddle and listen to live country music. They even played my favorite "Up Against the Wall Redneck Mother" . . .

I am pretty sure the breakfast place we loved was The Bunnery - which (if memory serves me) should be perfect for the vegetarian in your group. I reminded me of a funky, delicious restaurant you would find in a college town.

We also went to a place a few miles outside of Jackson Hole that overlooks the Grand Teton National Park. I can't remember the name of it, but it has a wine shop on the first floor. It was highly recommended, but when we got there we were turned away because there was a wedding in the restaurant. We didn't get to eat there or enjoy the gorgeous view, but we were told it was wonderful. Sorry - I don't know the name of the resttaurant, but maybe someone will. I'm not sure if the food was the main draw - it might have just been a great place to go for a nice drink and to look at the lovely scenery.

You guys are awesome, thanks! I leave in a month, and can't wait to try all of your suggestions. Has anyone been to the Bear and Doe Spa? We are looking for a spa day, but don't want to pay Four Season's prices.

I am in Jackson Hole right now, enjoying a week's vacation. We are staying at The Wort Hotel in downtown Jackson. I recommend that you come by the hotel's bar, Silver Dollar Bar. They have bands many nights during the week. Suggested downtown restaurants,you can ride the bus for $3 or $1.50 if you are 60+, Breakfast: The Bunnery; Lunch: Sweetwater; Dinner: Snake River Brewery and Restaurant for pub food and more, Snake River Grill for more upscale. Bars and dancing: You have to go to The Wort and Million Dollar Cowboy for dancing, or just listening to the music. The shopping in downtown Jackson is great! We move up to Teton Village to stay next to the Four Seasons at Snake River Lodge and Spa for 3 nights. We will eat at gamefish in SRLS and haven't decided the other one. I'm sure your hotel can offer ideas too. The bus is very safe and ALL the people in Jackson have been very friendly!
