Jackson Hole, WY Advice Needed
 

We'll be heading to Jackson Hole in late July early August for a 5-day honeymoon. We've never been there, but heard the area was really beautiful. We're staying at the Parkway Inn, which is in Jackson. We really want to spend a lot of time in Grand Tetons Park, but we're trying to avoid renting a car. Are there tour companies or shuttles that go there regularly that are not too expensive?

We actually wanted to stay at a Dude Ranch originally, but the prices were pretty outrageous. Does anyone know of any affordable tours/rental places that could offer us opportunities to horseback ride, canoe, and other outdoor activities. My fiance and I are "wanna-be" outdoors people, but we're definitely city folks who have never even gone horseback riding, canoeing, etc. But we'd love to try these adventures together on our honeymoon. Any advice would be great! Thanks:)

Parkway Inn is 18 miles from Grand Tetons National Park so if you don't have a car, then you will be dependent on tours every time you want to go into the park. I would think that renting a car would be the cheaper way to go. If you want to see moose, then you will want to be in the park at dusk.

We always have a vehicle so I won't be of much help on tours, but please consider a day trip or day tour to Yellowstone National Park while you are there or even better spend a couple nights there instead of in Jackson.

I drove cross country a long time ago and stopped for a day in that area. Make sure you go to the Cowboy Bar and see the barstools that have saddles on them.

Rent a car. It will substantially enhance your time there.

Yes, the scenery is absolutely spectacular. Would also HIGHLY recommend renting a car. There will be plenty of times you'll want to stop and soak in the amazing views and wildlife in both the Tetons and Yellowstone, and you won't be able to do that on any tour.

Definitely rent a car to afford you the maximum opportunity to experience the splendor of the Teton!

I concur with the above, you need to rent a car. If you want to see the wildlife, it will require some driving at dawn and dusk for the best chances.

The whitewater rafting is good there. Try Dave hansen's whitewater. There are also places to canoe and kayak.

If you rent the car, I recommend going to Doornan's in Moose, WY (right outside the gate to GTNP) for breakfast one morning. The food is simple but you sit outside on picnic tanles that overlook the Snake River and Grand Teton. Awesome views!

You will also want to go to Teton Village so you would need a car unless you want to take the bus.
