Jackson Hole Whitewater or Mad River for whitewater trip?

I'll be taking a whitewater rafting trip (short 2-3 hour trip) on the Snake River in Wyoming next month (May) and I've narrowed down my preference to these two companies. Does anyone have any experience with either one? One place offered to throw in free wetsuits, but the other place is $9/person cheaper. Please help!

I have no experience with JH Whitewater, but my family has a house in Jackson and we have always used Mad River. I think it is partly because they are conveniently located for us. However, I have never had any problems with them and have thoroughly enjoyed ever trip.

If you are going rafting in May, be aware of two things: 1) the water will be very cold. I went once at the end of May and literally could not feel my feet for about 1/2 hour after getting out of the boat. There's really nothing you can do to avoid this, but be prepared. 2) There may not be very many fantastic rapids. This is dependent on how much water is coming down from the moutains, etc. Even at its worst, the trip is still a good ride!

Enjoy!

Hi Sue!

If you're going in May, I would recommend the company with the wet suits. Your feet will be numb for a long time without the booties.

Barker-Ewing is a great company to whitewater with. We did last September and had a blast....

Are the whitewater raft rides really rough physically on you (motion sickness or back problems)? I've never experienced one & a little bit leery. Sure looks like fun though.
