Jackson Hole In January

we are thinking of taking a 4 day trip and Jackon Hole came up as an option because American has some cheap flights --- $260.00 from DFW.

Are we crazy to go this time of year. I don't like cold weather, but if I am entertained and especially by wildlife - I don't even notice the cold.

What can we do besides ski.

And any recommendations for inexpensive lodging.

Well we went in January a few years ago. The weather was very cold, but sunny.

Of course we skied, but we also took a day trip thru Yellowstone on Snowmobiles ( a must do!!)

Tried to cross country ski in Cache Creek Area ( saw Moose along the trail!)

Went on a Horse Drawn ride one NIGHT up to a cabin where we had an awesome 5 course meal (with copious glasses of spirits!)

Stayed at the Snow King Resort outside of the main town of Jackson. Nice full service Hotel.

oops......forgot to add that we went to a caribou reserve where you go in a sled thru the beautiful animals

That was all on a one week trip

Um John,

Those "caribou" you saw were actually elk. Two different animals, but both beautiful.

Lots to do in Jackson for 4 days. Ski, dog sled, snow mobile, stroll the galleries and the Wildlife Museum. Go in to Yellowstone too.

Can be very cold or can be warm. Just depends in January. The month usually ends up half and half in the Rockies.

Sorry Dale! I am from New Jersey!

It was the ELK preserve, I must have been watching "Animal Planet" and got confused!
