Jackson Hole and Yellowstone
My family and I are spending a long weekend in Jackson Hole. I am trying to find out how long of a drive is it to Old Faithful in Yellowstone. Since we are only there for three days I'm wondering if it's worth the drive. I'm sure Grand Teton National Park will be just as beautiful. No?
Any info would be appreciated. |
Figure about 1.5 to 2 hours to Old Faithful. I think you should go. The Tetons are beautiful, but Yellowstone is the Granddaddy of all the parks.
|
There's nothing like Yellowstone. Grand Teton National Park is beautiful, but it's hard to express...there's nothing like Yellowstone...
|
I loved the beauty of the Tetons but Yellowstone is by far my favorite of the two. IMO I think you should at least go to Old Faithful and walk around the geyer area.
|
I guess i'm in the minority. The Teton is our favorite national park. Oh, we enjoyed Yellowstone, but the Teton is something very special to us.
Having said that, it's still worth the drive to go to see Old Faithful! However, at the same time, a key question is: Is this your one and only trip to the area or do you expect to go back in the future? If you plan to go back, it wouldn't be the best use of your time to spend so much of it driving back and forth on this trip. There is more than enough to do in the Teton for three days. When are you going? If it's during the winter, it might take you longer to drive up there. |
We're actually going in the summer. Is the traffic as bad as they say?
|
Yes, the traffic is as bad as they say!
Is the weekend in Jackson Hole part of a longer vacation? More details. |
We always spend as many days days in Yellowstone as we can, with a side trip to the Grand Tetons.
