rjw....LMAO @ Paris Hilton comment.

Thought of a few more....

People that feel the need to double and triple park when dropping off their kids at school because they're too lazy to stop by a pump for 1 minute while their kid runs off into the bldg or at least find a legit spot!! This happens mainly on one lane roads where people are forced into oncoming traffic to get around them!!!

Driving next to trucks. Really big trucks. Surely I can't be the only one that hates this....

Rave: It's Friday, my boss is in Chicago, and I get to go skiing in the Poconos for the weekend!!

My rave, "The Simple Life". How can you not laugh at a couple of rich twit brats moving onto a working farm in Arkansas? These ARE reality shows. There are no writers, no script, no directors, no actors, no make-up artists, no costume designers, no sets or sound stages, no live audiance, and no canned laughter.

My rant, yes, Ali on "Ali & Jack". Is she living in her own world or what??? I used to know somebody on drugs who acted like her.

BTW, this is a fun friday post!

My rant - posts that don't identify LOCATION in their message topic - causing us to have to open & skim through the paragraph before realizing if it is anything we can be of help/interested in.

My rave - the whole western USA & southwest, in particular.

Rave: 4 hours until we take off for Australia. And I'm actually packed and ready. And it all fits in a 22" carry on.

I'm not much of a talk show or day time TV fan, but during my recent stay in New York, I started watching Ali and Jack in the mornings (or at least the rainy ones)-- a sort of Regis and Kathy Lee/Kelly type show. But I found Jack and Ali very entertaining. I also liked all the current Broadway stuff they had on -- songs from the shows, performers, etc. It's very local New York oriented, but I found it better than most talk shows I've witnessed.

People who move to the left lane to pass a car, but who are in reality only going 2-5 MPH faster than the car they are passing. Because they are using the cruise control and don't with to accelerate with their foot, they spend a good 10 minutes passing that car and create a huge backup in the left lane.

Accept my deepest apologies MightyIsis. I am guilty of that.

Rant: A few people on this forum who take offense too quickly.

Rave: Helpful people on this forum. =D>

I do that too Mightylsis. But there's more to that rant. My rant is that the reason I'm passing is because the car was going much slower, but as I get next to them with my cruise control still at the same speed I've been rapidly approaching them, they speed up. That's what causes that backup.

Rant: to jor (sorry to single your opinion out) - people who slam SUVs without considering that 1) people are given a choice in what they choose to purchase, and it is obvious that many, many people choose SUVs for any number of reasons, status and otherwise. In some parts of the country they make more sense than in others, but again, it is a choice that people are allowed to make, much like smoking, distasteful as it may be to you. No, I don't own one (and I don't smoke...) 2) Why people single out SUVs and don't include minivans, vans, trucks, heavy trucks, buses, and 2-person occupied, heated and A/C'ed McMansions that also suck down natural resources is a mystery to me. Perhaps because so many are an obvious status symbol only. 3) Show me an SUV owner who responsibly maintains his/her vehicle, and I'll show you two people with pre-1990's cars who aren't maintaining them properly to achieve the optimum gas mileage and cleanest exhaust. Until every member of the Sierra club can prove to me that they drive Toyota Prius's (Priuii??), I will not take their SUV hysteria seriously. Whew! End of rant.

Rave: I just bought a map and guidebook to Prague for our March trip and am SO FREAKING excited!!

missjanna: I'm with you on the big trucks. Living where I do, I can't avoid it (an occasional alternate route to my home takes me on the main freeway into the Port of Long Beach CA-- huge numbers of huge trucks!), but I hate 'em. And the gravel trucks drop off little projectiles that pit your windshield and the paint on your car's front end.

Raves: Carmen McRae's recording of "How Long Has This Been Going On" is sublime. Stags Leap Winery's cabernets and merlots are wonderful and worth the extra money. Saw "Best in Show" on Comedy Central recently and still consider it one of the best, smartest movies I've seen in recent years. Ditto "South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut" (who knew?!?).

Everyone have a super weekend!

Hey rj, how about those cell phone users who walk through the stores yakking away oblivious to those around them or the ones at the health club yakking away on their cell phones while they are on the treadmill.

Rant-The highway shooter here in Columbus and the police who kept saying it isn't the work of one person but random acts of violence.

Rant-The flu and people who insist on going out hacking and coughing away. Stay home you knuckleheads and keep your sick kids home also.

Rave-Acts of kindness during the holidays.
