Its Freaky Friday, Dec. 12. Only those with a sense of humor need reply!

Rants or Raves. Here's my rants! TV weddings, Ali on Ali and Jack, bumper stickers, tipping, highway billboards, SUV gas hogs, toll roads, and hotel surcharges for municipal projects.

what's your rant or rave?

Sorry I'm not allowed to post on this thread. Last week somebody ranted about how a news article quoted the wrong time zone. Since I thought these threads were to allow a sense of humor, I mentioned that anyone who rants about such a minor thing EITHER is anal or has too much time on his hands. Note I gave the person a choice. But that person clearly chose himself to be anal rather than having too much time on his hands, which surprised me that the person himself would choose that of the two options. Since that time the same person has posted my comment on at least three different posts -- each time misquoting me as saying that he was anal (and ignoring the other options I gave him.) Doesn't that prove my point? Now I understand why that poster chose anal over simply having too much time on his hands.

Oh, by the way, I'm both of the above (anal and having too much time on my hands). Obviously! Or I wouldn't be posting this now!! Does that mean I have a sense of humor? Yes, I think so, but sad when the original poster on the other thread DIDN'T have a sense of humor.

OK, though here's my rant! Local car rental firms now are charging a fee of $ 1.50 for "battery discard fee" supposedly because the "environmentalists" have added some fee for disposing of old car batteries. That fee to the agency means nothing as they rarely if ever replace a battery before selling the vehicle. Yet they are making hundreds of dollars per car by imposing that fee hundreds of times on the same vehicle!!

I agree jor - I can't stand that Ali on Ali and Jack. But my major rant is getting that ONE strain of flu that is not in the flu shot!

My few little rants:

People who don't wear clothing in their size. I thought it was just a NY thing till I went to other cities and saw the same thing. All these girls wearing tight low riders with a roll of fat between the jeans and their shirts. Ugh!! Whatever happened to getting clothes in your own size?

Another is people that insist on carrying on luggage that really should be checked, and then have to fight to find enough space for the bag in an overhead bin. I understand some people don't want to have to wait for the luggage to come out, but if it's halfway up your thighs, you should be checking it. I try to carry on only the basic essentials and nothing more.

The other is how these parents who let their children go to Neverland are not being reprimanded for child endangerment. The same for the woman who left her baby in the backseat to get food with her friend, only to find a carjacker stole the car.

To elaborate on jors bumper sticker rant.

Why is they are always left wing liberals that have these bumper stickers that blame everything on republicans.

The only reason Al Gore endorsed Dean is that Gore expects to be Secretary of State in the unlikely event of a Dean victory.

Last, but not least,Reality shows. What the [email protected]#k is up with those.

LOL @ the reality shows comment.

At the rate we're going, eventually everything will be a reality show and we will all be on camera while watching each other's lives!!

"why are there always left wing liberals that have those bumper stickers that blame everything on the republicans?"

I don't know. Maybe because there are always right wing conservatives that have those bumper stickers that blame everything on the democrats"?

My argument with reality shows is that they are called reality shows? What's real about them or the people on them?

What a great post!

It really bugs me when people do not agree with my opinion.

Surely you anti-reality show types must appreciate the humor in the Simple Life?

Remember that sense of humor request in the heading folks.....

The road bullies on the Palisades Interstate Parkway (from Fort Lee, New Jersey to Bear Mountain, New York). It's a two lane road in each direction and there isn't a shoulder either. The majority of the drivers think it's the Indy 500 and they don't give a damn about the danger they pose. Even if you stay in the right lane and maintain the speed limit of 55 you've got people who get their cars so close to the back of your car they're practically a back seat passenger in yours. If that doesn't get you to move faster they flash their lights or put their brights on. The best part is when they finally are able to pass you they cut it real close and then pull in front of you to cut you off. If you try to leave some length between you and other cars some drivers use it as an opportunity to practice their weaving and back forth between lanes skills. I could go on and on but I'd better switch gears now to mention that I am so glad cable tv offers the food network. It's a great way to relax after a ride on the PIP. TGIF!

My rant is not funny. It's kind of sad actually. How about the newspaper carrier who tucks a self-addressed envelope in w/ your newspaper so you can send him/her some money for Christmas??
At first I thought "This is presumptuous beyond belief!" Then I thought "If you are that desperate I hope every customer sends you at least $20." What would you do???

I'd give him the 20 bucks. I love going out each morning and finding my paper there. Then I can sit down with my coffee and read "Pearls Before Swine" and start my day with a laugh! It's worth the $20 tip!

My rave...The Dow is over 10,000.

My rant...The stock I paid $110/a share is still worth $3.10.

Getting my paper there every morning is well worth the Christmas tip I leave. I don't tip throughout the year so giving my delivery person a nice tip is fine. Plus my service is excellent!!

My rant Cars and SUVs that run you down (and it's primarily SUVs) they have to get right on your bumper showing "I'm bigger than you so get out of my way"

Then when they pass I see that they're chatting away on a cell phone! People ought to pay attention when they're driving.

Otherwise it's Friday - almost Christmas - and I'm happy...

Travel Related Rant: Hotel companies, Starwood in particular, that create questionable charges, like a charge for self-parking at their Princeville resort and fees for using a crib at their Sheraton resort in the Algarve, as a means to drive up revenue.

Rave: Their willingness to take the charge off you bill when you protest which implies a "let's throw it against the wall and see what sticks" rationale for creating the charge.

Rant: The obvious corporate mandate at Starwood to create discretionary fees on the part of each hotel.

My rant has to do with those drivers holding the cell phones up to their left ear, yakking away, blithely driving just below the speed limit wherever they go, making "rolling stops" at stop signs, then barreling into intersections and almost hitting you. Have you noticed that, when you give them the burning "I hate you" look (cuz how else are they going to learn?...), they give you this look of annoyed surprise that says, "Hey! What are YOU looking at? Can't you see I'm on the phone here?!"

Bugs the hell out of me....

Oh yeah, people who think their towns are the best simply because they have a larger number of citizens than yours. Even when objectively their town is awful. Like a certain city in northern California with the initials "S.J."....

And why should we care about Paris Hilton? Rich, yes. Blonde and slim, yes. But she's stupid, untalented and butt-ugly. WHY SHOULD WE CARE?!?!?

But enough ranting. It's Friday-- gotta get ready for the weekend!! Everyone have a wonderful one, OK?

My Rant:
Waiting on Bill Millionare for two weeks as he is in town on business. He frequents our restaurant daily and his tips stink! -That is, when he remembers to tip!

My Rave:
Knowing that Bill had the sh!tts like crazy yesterday afternoon, as a healthy dose of Visine accidently found its way into his iced tea.
