It's Dungeness Crab Season in SF!!!

Anyone who is coming to SF after today, will get to experience the real "San Francisco treat"--fresh from the ocean dungeness crab. Crab season officially opens tomorrow, and the crab boats went out today. That means crab for Thanksgiving!!!

Thanks for sharing SAB. I have to get up to the city soon to partake. :-)

Dukey Nov 14th, 2006 04:48 PM

Hmmmm..do you eat them with Rice-A-Roni? (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

Shanghainese Nov 15th, 2006 12:39 PM

Special day after Thanksgiving meal!

FainaAgain Nov 15th, 2006 12:41 PM

Sometimes they have special meals and famous cooks' presentation at the Embarcadero market, check this out too.

Shanghainese Nov 15th, 2006 02:46 PM

Dukey: It's ok. You can eat them with boiled rice and a dark vinegar/soy sauce/shredded fresh ginger dipping sauce, or the SF way is with sourdough bread and melted butter, yum!

The day after his wife disappeared in a kayaking accident,a man
answered his door to find two grim-faced CA State Troopers
on the porch. "We're sorry Mr. Wilkins, but we have some information about
your wife," said one trooper.
"Well tell me now! Did you find her?" Wilkins shouted.
The troopers looked at each other. One said, "We have some bad news, some
good news, and some really great news. Which do you want to hear first?"
Fearing the worst, an ashen Wilkins said, "Give me the bad news first."
The trooper said, "I'm sorry to tell you, sir, but this morning we found
your wife's body in SF Bay."
"Oh my God!" exclaimed Wilkins. Swallowing hard, he asked, "What's the good news?"
The trooper continued, "When we pulled her up she had twelve 25-pound king
crabs and six good-sized Dungeness crabs clinging to her body."
Stunned, Wilkins demanded, "If that's the good news, what's the great news?"
The trooper replied, "We're pulling her up again tomorrow."

LOL I like it, but Llinda... get ready for nasty posts for this joke! From angry husbands :))

BeachGirl247 Nov 15th, 2006 03:30 PM

LOL Linda! That is hilarious! I'm passing it on to my FIL who will appreciate that joke.

Shanghainese Nov 15th, 2006 04:04 PM

I'm cracking up with Linda's story, good
to tell while cracking and eating crabs!

Faina: Do you eat crabs?
Trippinkpj: Let's have a GTG over crabs!!

razzledazzle Nov 15th, 2006 04:23 PM

Linda you're nutz !
LOL !
We'll be chowing down this weekend after a run out to Lucas Wharf at Bodega Bay where we traditionally
purchase our first crabs of the season.

Pair 'em with a Lambert Bridge Sauvignon Blanc. Yummy !

Hi Razz, you lucky duck. I've bought salmon from that very wharf but am allergic to crab. Don't feel bad, I make up for it by eating chocolate!

Bon appetit!

:-)

OOOOHHHH cannot wait! I have a small jar of truffle butter I will melt for the first taste of the beauties from the deep.

The rest of the season, it's aioli and french bread with some good white wine to wash it all down.

I just might have to make a special trip to Swan's to "belly up" at the counter for some with cocktail sauce.
