itinerary help AZ canyons

Haven't written my last trip report through the grand circle in October and I'm already planning our next adventure through Arizona!! We've already seen the big sights - Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Canyon de Chelly.

This time staying in AZ for 1 week and need help. Plan on staying in Flagstaff, Pheonix and Tucson. Would like to fit in the following places and need itinerary advice.

Day 1 (Flagstaff base) Walnut canyon
Day 2 Wupatki NM
Day 3 Montezuma Castle
Day 4 (Pheonix base) Tonto
Day 5 Casa grande ruins
Day 6 (Tucson base)Saguaro NP

Would like to fit in San Xavier Bac and perhaps Jerome ghost town but don't know if it is possible. Any other suggestions??

Many thanks!!

I think you could easily fit Walnut Canyon and Wupatki National Monuments into one day trip from Flagstaff.

The second day you could easily fit Montezuma Castle and Jermone and possible still have time for Tuzigoot National Monument all in one day.

This will give you an extra day to do southern AZ. I haven't been to the other places you mentioned.

Walnut Canyon, Wupati and Sunset Crater easily done in one day. Spend the day saved in Tucson. VIsit the Desert Museum when in Tucson.

Thanks for your replies Rob and Utahtea. This is exactly the kind of info I was looking for.

More ????
Does anyone know if it is possible to do Saguaro and the biosphere in 1 day?

Also, which side of Saguaro?? I understand that there is an east and a west side.

Any other ghost towns along the route that we should visit??

Thanks!
MaryRay

Saguaro can be a drive through but they have Ranger guided hikes - stop at a Ranger office for information. We did an interesting hike. I don't remember if it was East or West but we did the hike the same day we were at the Desert Museum. The Ranger office was a short drive from the Museum. There is also an interesting Canyon worth a visit - I can't recall the name but I think it was Sabino Canyon or something close.

I think the west side of Saguaro NP is supposed to be the best. I have only been to the east side and I was unimpressed.

I agree that Walnut Canyon, Wupatki/Sunset Crater can all be done in one day and that Jerome, MOntezuma Castle/Well, and Tuzigoot can also be done in one day

If you have not been to Sedona in your previous trip then i would certainly add it.
You can pack a lot more into your day 5 - Case Grande ruins is not a whole day activity.
If you are into arts then Tubac is a place to visit near Tucson.

Thanks for your suggestions..we've altered our itinerary

Day 1 (Flagstaff base) Explore Flagstaff
Day 2 Wupatki NM, sunset crater, Walnut canyon
Day 3 (Pheonix base)Montezuma Castle, Jerome, Tuzigoot
Day 4 (Casa Grande base) Tonto, Casa Grande ruins
Day 5 Sonora desert museum, Old Tucson, Casa grande ruins
Day 6 (Tucson base)Saguaro NP, Biosphere, San Xavier Bac mission

Is this itinerary doable and also what's there to do in Sedona??
