Italy questions

Firstly, thank you all for a wealth of incredible info. Husband and I are visiting Rome (3 days), Florence (2 days) and Venice (3days) April 4-12th. Was wondering if you could help and/or offer some suggestions. What is the best way to get to Residenza Canali in Rome from the airport? To Termini from the hotel? From Florence train station to Danvanzati Hotel , from train station in Venice to Locanda Orseolo? Are you familiar with any sites that suggest a daily itinerary with a map? How about “must” restaurants? We love food, especially regional, but do not need to be in trendy restaurants. We love to be out and about and hope the hotels we chose will allow us to venture out at night.
Thanks in advance and please be kind in response if I left out important info :}

not only that but somebody needs to learn how to search the Net, buy books and study up to find these answers. Take a cab from the airports, by the way.

I agree with the suggestion of posting this on the European board. However, I would suggest hiring one of the car companies rather than taking a cab from the Rome airport. You'll find information about these companies by doing a search on the European board.

Have a great trip!

Hi,

Keep this in mind that if you rent a car!
Most Italians have a different style of driving then you are used in the VS.
Especially in cities like Rome traffic can be quiet a 'thrill' ;-)

On the other hand Italy is a beautiful country so relax and enjoy.

lorlexrik1, We just returned from a stay at the Residenza Canali. They have a car service which will pick you up from the airport and deliver you to the hotel for 45Euro. I believe that's the best way to get there, because this hotel is on a little out-of-the-way street and is hard to find. You need to book this ahead of time. The driver will be standing after you leave baggage claims; he will have a sign with your name on it. It's very easy to do.

To get to Termini, I would have the front desk call a cab. It took 4 minutes for a cab to arrive when we left the Residenza Canali.

The Residenza Canali is right around the corner from the Piazza Navona, so you have lots of restaurant choices, both in the Piazza Navona and on the surrounding streets.

Have a wonderful time!

In Rome and Florence take a taxi to and from your hotel.

In Venice take the vaporetto (boat). Ask your hotel in advance which route number and what stop name you need.
