Italian restaurant Chelsea

Anyone know a good restaurant in Chelsea for 5 sisters(40's) who love wine & pasta? Or should we head straight to Little Italy?? Othere recommendations appreciated, I'm in charge.

I would skip Little Italy as in general, the restaurants there are not the best Italian the city has to offer. But why do you have to stay in Chelsea? There are many terrific Italian places in the West Village. Give us an idea of what you are willing to pay per person and if you want wine in quantity or a good wine list. Give us more of an idea of the kind of place you like...and the budget. One of my current Italian favorites is Ecco, in Tribeca.

We usually spend $100 per person w/ good wine. We are staying in Chelsea - thought we would try something close by but West Village is great too!
Thanks for the recommendations!

GONZO, is on 13 between 6th and 7th I think. close enough to Chelsea, right? incredible Tuscan food, great selection of wines by the glass. great small plates for sharing... definitely get a pizza (especially if the mashed potato pizza is "in season").

Another suggestion, would be Beppe, but that is closer to Flatiron/Union Square.
i live in NYC, so if you need others let me know.

If you can spend that much, you could see if you can get a table at Babbo in the West Village. Lupa in the same area is another of my favorites. Both of these hold a few tables for walk-ins so you have a chance if you get there soon after they open. Both of these are in the Mario Batali group. He also has a new place in Chelsea named Del Posto which might be fun for you.
