ISLIP Airport hotel...restaurants near there?

Yikes...we get in around 4 and I've never flown out of ISLIP before, have no idea what's around there besides airport hotels, lol. Anybody have a suggestion for a restaurant within cab distance. No chains, prefer an ethnic/authentic type place.

Where are you going from Islip? East to the Hamptons? West to the city?

Either way, eat when you get to your destination (or stop at a "chain" along the route).

Actually, we're going fro LGA to ISLIP, cause we have a flight out of there the next day. We'll be arriving at ISLIP around 5. I prefer to freshen up (after Europe flight) and take a taxi somewhere around 6:30 or so. Have lots of flexibility there. Thanks.

a few minutes cab ride will take you to my favorite indian resterant, channi's in east islip. route 111, south of sunrise highway. there is also a french resterant, la soir in bayport a few miles down the road. been going there for years. in the immediate area, there is mostly the chains, applebees, outback, etc...

Thanks otto. Do you know anything about Scabelli's Pizza? Read a couple good reports....they are right across the way.
