Isle of Palms

Heading to Isle of Palms, South Carolina next summer with 12 adults and 8 kids. We have already rented a house - any tips for
me? The age range of the kids is 7 - 15.
Thanks!

It's good to know that someone has their priorities right! :-)

We went to isle of palms last october and had a great time. Our favorite restaurant was the Boathouse-it was great. Go early-it does get crowded.

Don't forget the plantations and Ft. Sumpter. Carriage ride downtown.

Definitely go to the Boathouse restaurant on the southern end of IOP (make reservations). Also good is The Water's Edge on Shem Creek. Might consider taking in a minor league baseball game in Charleston..River Dogs are a class A affiliate of the Yankees and minor league games are great fun for the kids. Where are you staying on IOP? Will you be in the Wild Dunes area?

Take the novel Shem Creek with you as a light read. :)

Great take out dinners and cookies to die for from OO La La's next to the Red and White grocery store.
Dinner at one of the Shem Creek places.
If the adults get a night on their own, try the Boardwalk at Wild Dunes for dinner.

Don't worry about the kids! They'll make so many new friends and find so much to do, you'll have a hard time getting them to do anything with the parents!

I'll second the baseball game. Had a great time seeing the Riverdogs play a few weeks ago. Seats on the first base line are in the shade/sun behind you, but even the third base line wasn't too bad. Tickets are $4-$8, with $8 getting you box seats with a waitress/waiter.
My son (7 at the time) loved Patriot's Point and the aquarium. There's an IMAX at the aquarium if you have a rainy day. If you go downtown, you can get the kids to walk around a while seeing the sites, taking a carraige ride and then let them change into bathing suits and play in the fountain at the end of Vendue (chlorinated and always filled with kids)/Waterfront Park. Going to the beach goes without saying. Maybe they would like to try a little crabbing or fishing. Have a great time!
