Island Work

I know this is the US board, and I know my question doesn't strictly adhere to "travel," but I'm posting here for a reason. Fodorites have always impressed me as very intelligent and knowledgable, and the US board is by far the most active, so that is why I am posting here.

I am graduating college in May and I have decided I want to move to a Carribean island for a year and be a bartender at a resort (or something like that). I am open-minded and reasonably well-traveled for a 21-22 yr old. Does anyone here have any suggestions as to which island I should go to? Also, can anyone help me look in the right direction for a job in a resort area?

Any and al advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all of you who help me turn my dream into a reality!

While I don't know anything specific to help you, I did have an idea: why not do a search here on the Fodor's site for Caribbean resorts, then look up the promising-sounding ones on Google to find their own web sites, and go from there? If they don't have employment info on their web sites, you can at least learn how to contact the resorts. (I hope this suggestion isn't too obvious--maybe you've already thought of doing this.)Best of luck to you!

The last time you asked this question I believe the answers suggested that you contact major hotel chains with properties in the Caribbean such as Marriott and Hyatt and inquire about work permits.
All the advice you got was very sound suggesting which islands would be best and how to get bartending experience.

I'm sorry I asked the question twice. I actually couldn't find it when I checked a few days ago - I thought it had gotten lost in cyberspace. If anyone knows where I can find it, that'd be great.... I hate to waste all the good responses people gave to my original posting!

It is possible it was deleted by the fodors police. If you get any good answers again, write them down before it disapears again.
