Islamorada (or there abouts) Mom and Pop, small, kid friendly hotel with docks

Four families, with an average of 2 kids a piece are looking for a place in Islamorada for a week in June. We're all Floridians and will be trailering our boats. Looking forward to snorkeling, and fishing offshore. Kids will fish off a dock, swim in the pool, play in a little man-made "Key" beach. We are looking for a little Mom and Pop hotel to stay at. Not fancy, just clean and with some pretty tropical plants about. Not looking for a big resort, just ground floor cottages, with little balcony's, a grill or common grill. Something casual, were we can feel comfortable and gather together in the evenings as a group outside talking and having drinks while the kids play about. Not too too expensive, not too fancy, not too big. Doesn't "have" to be in Islamorada, but we are just trying to avoid having to drive too far down the Keys. It's a long drive from Clearwater! But, if we have to, we have to. For the right place.
Any suggestions?

For $2000 per family, you could rent a private island -
