Islamorada - Moorings Village & Cheeca Lodge

Hi all! My husband, daughter and I are spending 4 nights in the Sifca house in the Moorings Village in late November. Our friends from Tampa will likely come and meet us in Islamorada, but the husband is leaning towards Cheeca. I think both resorts look great, and I heard that they are right next to each other. My question from anyone that has been there is could they come hang out with us at Moorings or could we get into Cheeca pool areas? We don't want to be rule breakers and wouldn't do this everyday, but just curious if it will make sense to be at different hotels. I'm not at all familiar with the atmosphere/security and whether there will be wristbands, gate codes, etc that will make it hard for us to visit. I appreciate your thoughts and advice!

Was a long time ago and we didn't use the pool at Cheeca Lodge (were there only one day and went deep sea fishing) - but I don't remember the security being that vigilant.

We have stayed at the Moorings a couple of times, a few years back now, but loved it each time. I am not positive but I think back them we could walk to Cheeca Lodge.

As for at The Moorings, many times when we used the pool there was no one else there. If we had had friends with us would not have mattered.

There was no one checking keys or name tags or anything like that.

Some of the houses at The Moorings can hold a number of people. I really don't see how they would even keep track of who was staying at the resort.

It may be differant now but back then I don't see where it would have been an problem.

No idea about the Cheeca Lodge pool areas.

New owners at Cheeca. You really can't compare the two as Cheeca is a full scale resort and The Moorings are individual cottages with no restaurant. There is security at the front gate of Cheeca. Depending on the season, at times it is closed to all but guests. This annoys us locals as we're spending money in their restaurants during the off season when there are few visitors. That said, they are both great looking properties.

Thank you everyone!

The two resort properties are directly next to each another. Unless they have put up a big fence (since we were there about 4 yrs. ago), we did not have a problem going back and forth between them.
