Islamorada, help!
Hi,
My husband and I will be in Islamorada for 3-4 days in early May to go fishing. We are trying to decide where to stay and have heard quite a bit about Holiday Isle. Just wanted to get some advice/opinions about it from people who have been there. Is it nice? Is 1 hotel better than another on the property? Are the cheaper hotel on the property OK or not worth staying at? We like to go out so it sounds like a fun place. Any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks! |
IMHO, there are nicer places to stay than Holiday Isle and it is a huge party place. Hampton Inn is Islamorada is nice as is Casa Morada. I have stayed at the Cheeca Lodge in the past and it was nice also. Can't comment on recently. Do a text search above on Islamorada or Florida Keys and you will find lots more suggestions.

We really like to party so that's why I thought we would like it. I was just wondering if the hotel is OK and not gross and if the lower priced hotels on the property are OK or if they are not worth staying in. If anyone can help me out on this I would really appreciate it! :-)

If you are going to be on the water by day and are only using your motel room to pass out, you'll love Holiday Isle.
Notice I wrote 'motel room'. Party atmosphere, a ton of bars on property. I think there are 17 Tiki Bars on Holiday Isle. |
Hi Go Travel,
Thanks for the reply. A party place sounds great to us. We will either be fishing during the day or on the beach or at the pool. Does it matter which one of the 4 we stay at or are they all about the same? How are the beach and the pools? I am not sure if we will end up there on a weekend or during the week. is there still stuff going on during the week? Thanks so much for your reply! :-) |
If this tells you anything, I think the Howard Johnson's is the nicest motel.
Pools are fine, beach is small, manmade, not what you immediately think of when you think beach. The sand bar, about a mile off shore is a good place to party. You can only get there by boat. Holiday Isle will be a lot more crowded on the weekend than during the week unless you are there for a holiday week. The numerous marinas bring in a lot of people that are there to fish. Have you all thought of renting your own boat? If you do, make sure one of you is an experienced ocean boater. These are motel rooms that get a lot of wear and tear. If you are going to party, you'll be happy. |
Hi Go Travel,
I am about the same as you when it comes to rooms. As long as it's clean with no bugs it's fine with me. We won't be in there much anyway. My husband has his skipper's license here in Seattle and is a very experienced boater so maybe we will rent a boat, that sounds like fun. Are there any bars that we should not miss? Even if we end up there on weekdays? |
Do not miss bars:
Zane Greys in World Wide Sportsman Curt Gowdy Lounge in Cheeca Lodge Lorelei Make sure you at least try a Bushwacker and a Pain in the Ass at Holiday Isle. |
