My husband and I are planning to go the Cheeca Lodge early in January for a few days.
What are some good reastaurants in the area?
I hear the restaurant at Cheeca Lodge is very good-- any other suggestions would be appreciated-

We try to stop at The Green Turtle on our way to or from Key West. Been there since the 40's I think! It's right on US 1.

Morada Bay - across the street from Cheeca Lodge - has gotten rave reviews. It's owned by the folks who own the Moorings, which is next door to Cheeca.

I stayed at the Cheeca Lodge a couple of years ago. You will love it. The restaurant at the Lodge is very good. If you want something a little more laid back, there is an outdoor restaurant/marina across the street and about 1/4 mile north of the lodge(sorry but I cannot remembert he name). The food is average, but the sunset is AWESOME! Ask someone at the lodge and I am sure that they will know the name of it.

Heidi,

I am not sure exactly where along the highway this is but I think it is close to Islamorada...Manny and Isa's Restaurant is a great informal Cuban restaurant that we loved and it has absolutely the best Key Lime Pie anywhere along the Keys. Since eating there a few years ago I have seen it mentioned in various travel articles...especially the pie. Again, very casual...linoleum floors and chrome chairs, but the food is wonderful!
Good Luck, Maria

The Lorelei is probably the restaurant Bob was thinking of. Eat out by the chickee hut/bar. It is very Keys place. Good food, actually it can be outstanding if you are not looking for the latest trendy food. Just look for the tackiest looking glittery Mermaid sign you have ever seen, and you will have found the Lorelei.

Also have eaten at Morada Bay - Excellent - ABout two buildings down from there is a little seafood restaurant right on the water that is reasonable and good food. We stayed at the moorings - right next to Cheeca lodge - and could easily walk to these places right on the highway - its wonderful have a great time.

Heidi, I grew up in the Keys and can personally vouch for all the recommendations that have been given so far. Marker 88 is also nice and pricey. As for Morada Bay, I love that place, but is very $$$$. If you end up going down to Key West for the day, try Mangoes Restaurant.
