Islamorada
My fiance and I are planning to honeymoon at Cheeca's and were wondering if anyone could offer tips on unique places to eat or activities to do in the area?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks! |
Islamorada Fish Company has good food and a nice outdoor setting. There is often live music (steel drum, calypso type)adding to the ambience. We also really like the Island Tiki Bar in Marathon (about 30 minutes away)...also outdoor, also Bayside.

Rent a boat and hire a skipper to show you the waters and get out over the water.
In my opinion, vacationing in the middle keys is more about being on the water than looking out over it. |
We usually book Captain Anne Baxter out of Islamorada. She'll take you fishing, snorkeling, sight-seeing, whatever you want. She's at the marina behind the Islamorada Fish Company and Bass Pro Shops. Zane Grey's - the bar and restaurant on the second floor of the massive store is my favorite place to stop for a drink, snack or meal overlooking the water at sunset. The smoked fish dip is great. Everything is good.

One of the most Romantic nights My husband and I spent together was in Islamorada. The Water was Beautiful (it was Purple I swear)They Hotel we stayed in was just some Local place but We had fun hanging out all day. Went deep sea fishing the next day and had a riot. Caught 2 sail fish (tagged and threw em back)and a king coba. Our Capt. cleaned and fillet the coba. We took the fish up to some Old People we knew and they went nuts over the fish.
You can drive all along the keys from here too. It's in a perfect spot. Enjoy your honeymoon. |
