Is Young Frankenstein appropriate for kids?

I am trying to pick out a show to see with my 2 sons ages 6 and 10 and my wife on our upcoming trip to NYC. We were thinking about Young Frankenstein and have been hearing it may not be appropriate for the kids. Has anyone seen it? Any feedback. My youngest and I saw Hairspray when we were in NYC early this year. I would not mind seeing that again, Also I have been hearing legally blonde might be intertaining for them.
Any ideas or suggestions would be great!

Did you see the orignal movie? I don't know how true to the film the production is, but if it's the same, no, not appropriate.

Hopefully, they wouldn't get most of the jokes!

If they haven't already seen it (and if it's still playing), they'd probably enjoy The Lion King. I saw the production in Toronto with a friend -- we didn't even take any kids and we both loved it. The staging, costumes, sets, etc. are unique and quite gorgeous.

Have you tried www.broadwaybox.com? It's a great website. I recently got discount tickets for the play November -- $102 tickets for $75.

I have gone on broadway box and they have discount tickets for legally blonde hairspray and young frankenstein. I did not see lion king but will check again.They had seen the macys thanksgiving day parade and they had the cast of young frankenstein do a number so they wanted to see it but from what I have been ready and hearing it may not be appropriate for them and I should probably err on the side of caution.
I have not seen the movie in a while but remember seeing it when I was like 8 or 9 the first time and I know I did not get all the jokes!

No, Young Frankenstein in not the best choice for your sons.
And, no, you won't find discount tickets for The Lion King anywhere.

Oh, I was suggesting broadwaybox just for discounts in general. I guess you'd still have to pay full price for Lion King tickets.

The first show we always take kids to is STOMP. I've probably seen it in 4 or 5 venues (NYC included) @ least 10 times. It is always entertaining. My 5 yr old has already seen it twice. Cats might be another good one, if it is still playing in NYC.

There are dozens of shows I'd guess (I haven't seen Young Frank. but it didn't get very good reviews) would be more appropriate like

Legally Blonde
Mary Poppins
Lion King
Wicked

and off Broadway
Blue Man Group
Stomp

You ought to go rent a copy of Young Frankenstein. You would probably appreciate it much more now! Definitely one of my all time favorites.
