Kurt, Wow! Your kids.. except the baby, will LOVE this trip! I grew up camping in Yosemite and cherish those memories. Now that I'm a parent myself, I realize how much work it takes on behalf o fht parnets.. if you are willing, the rewards will be great. There is a lot to do for kids. Along with the kids activities already mentioned, I have fond memories of biking the paths, watching sticks float down the river, eating banana splits on the terrace at the Ahwahnee Hotel (best behavior required), riding the trams, small hikes... some of the falls are just a short walking distance from the tram stop... you will soon learn which are doable and which are not. Your kids will see deer, squirrels, bears and people from many countries. Enjoy!<BR>Lynette

Wow!, things have heated up a bit since I last checked responses to my question! Thanks to everyone for taking the time to respond. It appears that some of you have a lot of it (time). I guess I am the one currently with young kids because I don't have it. With that said I appreciate everyones point of view. I grew up in 200 acres of woods so I have no doubt little kids will keep themselves occupied in nature and benefit from it, I just haven't been to Yosemite yet so i was looking for some feedback. I have heard enough to feel good about taking the kids, sounds beautiful. Now the issue is whether we want to take them on the drive (6 hours?) from San Clemente. If we feel brave we'll go. thanks.

Kurt, I remember going to Yosemite with my parents and brother and sister at a young age from L.A. My dad and mom would wake us up about 4 am, put us in the car in our pjs and let us continue sleeping, stop for a pancake breakfast along the way, and get to Yosemite somewhat rested (at least the kids).
