Is Universal Studio worth the visit??
 

We're visiting Florida in April and are quite tired of Disney. Is Univeral worth our time? (We have two children ages 3 and 5). Thanks!

They're too young for Islands of Adventure at Universal but would like Universal Studios. They'd probably also love Sea World.

I would tend to agree--wait a few years. I only say this because of a discussion my 10 year old daughter and I had today. We were talking about ice skating and I asked her if she remembered going to Beauty and the Beast on Ice when she was 4 years old. As I recall, that was her favorite movie and she watched the video at least once a day. We thought seeing the ice show would be a memorable experience--guess what? SHE HAS NO MEMORY of the ice show!! AGH. Never being ones to learn from our experiences, we took this same child to the Orange Bowl when she was five--we had club level seating and watched a fabulous football game while our daughter curled up in her seat and went to sleep. We called it the $100 nap. I guess what I'm saying is I'd wait on the big trips (if I were to start over) until the kids were a little older. Now with a 10 and 13 year old we take them everywhere and have a blast.

The first time we took our kids to Universal Studios we had a 3,5 and 7 year old. There is Nickelodeon Studios which they will enjoy if they watch Nick on the t.v., and there are a few areas here and there for children (they were constructing Barney land or something like that last time we were there). However, as much as we enjoy Universal, I think it's geared for older kids and adults. I agree with the above poster, you'd get more bang for your buck at Sea World.

My husband and I went to Universal one January, and we loved it, in part because there was almsot no one else there! Can you believe, we only waited in line for a ride once? But, I have to agree, your kids are too young. With the exception of the Nickelodeon stuff, the rides are too intense for such little ones: King Kong, Jaws, Psycho in 3D, even the ET ride would scare them silly. In a few years, they'll love it. Consider the new-ish Animal Kingdom at Disney, if that's what it's called; and Sea World is great.

Yes, your kids are to young for many of the rides. But, they'll probably get a big kick out of the Dr. Suess section and just looking at the Dudley Do Right Waterflume should prove interesting.<BR><BR>Of course, if you are on a budget then perhaos you may want to wait a few years.

I agree with the others who suggest to wait a few years. Sea World is great and if you have time for a little bit of a drive, Busch Gardens has some nice things for younger children. A few years ago when I took my kids to Universal (ages 7 & 9), I found much of the attractions loud, violent and scarey for my children. We also went to a water park in Orlando that they enjoyed.
