Is there a hotel esp....Doubletree or a Hilton that would be good to see the fireworks from in Boston?

We want to see the fireworks on the 4th, but will have a 9 month old. I am afraid that he will be overwhelmed. I was thinking maybe we could rent a room somewhere to see them from it would be easier. I keep reading how hard it is to get there and get out of there. Don't care about hearing the music too much. MOst of the Hiltons and Doubletrees still have availabilty. Any others that would be good?

I'm not positive on this, so you should call the hotel and ask them. I believe the Hotel Sonesta in Cambridge overlooks the Charles River --- it may afford a decent view. I can't remember exactly where they shoot the fireworks from; think it's off a barge in Boston Harbor?

Have you asked either the Hilton or Doubletree if they have rooftop access to allow folks to see the fireworks?

I do agree with your idea of trying to find a good viewpoint. Going to the Esplanade for the 4th-July festivities is great; however there are LOTS of people and I can easily see a baby being overwhelmed by it. Plus it is difficult when just about everybody is trying to leave at exactly the same time.
Also, here's the website for info on the 4th July celebrations,
http://www.july4th.org/
The concert starts at 8pm, with fireworks at 10 pm.
Beware which Hilton and which Doubletree - some call themselves Boston, but are no where near downtown. Sonesta in Cambridge or Hyatt in Cambridge have some river facing rooms for fireworks visibility, but unlikely to still have space at this point.

I can not think of a place at ground level that would be appropriate to take a 9-month old for Boston fireworks. Boston goes nuts over 7/4 - and everyone wants to be here. Huge crowds that can be fun for some people, but really would be overwhelming for an infant. I think you have more concern about these crowds than noise of fireworks. To be able to hear music at all, people get to Esplanade many hours (like early AM hours) to secure a place.

There is also a Marriott in Cambridge which is about a block or two from the river (the barge is in the Charles River, not the Harbor). Unless you get a room on an upper floor of the Hyatt, you can't really see much from the ground (I tried one year from the shore of the river, and it was not a good location). If you were staying at the Hilton on Dalton St. you could probably walk over to the river and make a getaway quickly as it's only about five blocks to the Mass Ave bridge (a very good viewing spot). With any of the nearby hotels, do ask about rooftop or upper floor viewing opportunities. There was a package on the Channel 2 Auction (local PBS station) for the Presidential Suite at the Park Plaza for the 4th and the hook was that you could watch the fireworks from the suite...it went for very good bucks. Good luck.
