is the Narrows open for hiking?

I know that there has been record snowfall this winter. we arrive in Zion on June 15. Does anyone know if the Narrows is hikable? (Last time we went, in August, it wasn't because of heavy rains. I'd hate to miss it again.)

The Narrows is currently closed to hikers, due to high water levels. When will it be open? Most guesses I've seen have been around the end of June. There's still quite a bit of snow at higher elevations.

The water is still flowing at over 500 cubic feet per second... needs to get down to 100 before they will allow hiking. I'll bet it's so cold no one would want to go in anyway.

I'll be in Zion July 2-4... not getting my hopes up.

I just returned from Zion and was terribly disappointed that the Narrows is closed. It is not expected to be open until some time in July. Wrongfoot, you have the right attitude - it's not looking good.

Don't worry, plenty of other great hikes!

I was in Zion the first week of May a few years ago when the temps hit 100 degrees for the first time that summer. It had also been a big snow year. The Virgin River was running at 2200 cubic feet per second - flood level is 2400. It was an awesome and terrifying sight! Brown raging water within inches of topping the campground levee and entire trees coming down in it. A vivid demonstration of just how the canyon was made!

If you really want to hike the Narrows - late summer/early fall is best for trip planning.
