Will be in jacksonville for the weekend,the end of march is St Augustine worth the trip?

It only takes a day to visit St. Augustine. It's a historical place and worth a visit.Absolutely.

<BR> St.Augustine is worth the trip. Since you only have a short time, get a ticket on a sightseeing tour tram. For one price, you can see and learn about the city and you can get on and off the train at anytime, they run all day. Also, try to get over the bridge of lions heading towards the beach ( which is worth a look) and eat at the Conch House. It is a resort with motel, marina, lounge, and an excellent restaurant. Looks like a little piece of the keys in north fl with thatched roofed pods that you can sit in and dine out over the water. Very popular place so try to go 11am to 1 pm for lunch or 5pm to 6 pm for dinner. A real treat . www.conch-house.com. Have fun

Five years ago my wife and I spent 3 days in orlando and 4 days in St. Augustine beach. We loved epcot ect. but wish we had spent the whole time in St. Augustine. <BR> <BR>If you go, visit the Lightner museum. It was started by a rich man who collected collections.

Hi, <BR>My parents used to own a condo in St. Augustine Beach. I would say go for it. It's a very old with a lot of history to it. I think you'll enjoy it. I think it's only about an hours drive from Jacksonville.

St. Augustine is great for B&B's, truly unique shops, great restaurants (A1A Aleworks, Harry's, and Gypsy Cab Co. are excellent), history (Lightner Museum really is spectacular - and I don't even like museums!). Just park at the visitor's parking lot and walk everywhere. You'll wish Jacksonville hadn't been on your itinerary at all compared to St. Augustine!!

Sorry. I am not a St. Augustine fan. Visually dank. Rather boring in its history. (course I'm comparing it to Savannah, Charleston and Annapolis) Pedestrian unfriendly, save for a small shopping area. Lighthouse is a bust. I believe people talk it up because they are comparing it to Jacksonville or Ponte Vedra: neither of which are standouts. Try Amelia Island.

I was in the Jacksonville/Amelia Island area last October, and went to St. Augustine for a night. It was somewhat interesting, but really isn't anything much. We had a hard time finding a somewhat-decent place to stay, and the restaurant we ate at wasn't very good. I probably would have rather stayed in the Jacksonville area... there wasn't really a whole lot to do or see in St. Augustine.
