IS SPRING BREAK THE SAME TIME EACH YR

We are trying to plan a 2 wk holiday for next yr - one wk at Disneyworld and one wk in Charleston but are wondering about when spring break is in the States. WHen we were in St. Maarten recently the travelling was terrible because of all the people on spring break. Since we will be travelling with three little children, we would like to go either before or after the break. Is it a standard time for everyone or does it vary from place to place? In Canada, the 'easter holiday' varies from school to school. Hopefully someone can answer my question.
Thank you.

It varies.
Depends on the school.
Starts in early March for college students, runs through the week after Easter.

jumpy..."Spring Break" is anytime from the end of February to mid April.Somebody, somewhere, some school, some level, is on break.

In NYC, 1 of my kids has the last 2 weeks of March (private school), my other has from the Thrursday before Good Friday thru the week following Easter Sunday (public school).

It varies from state to state and public vs private and grade school vs college.

Beachboi is correct. Spring breaks vary from school to school, state to state. Spring breaks start at the end of Feb. and go to mid-April.

Charleston will not be full of spring breakers. You can go there anytime in the spring.

WDW will have lots of spring breakers but spring is generally less crowded than the summer. The smallest crowds at WDW are early Dec. and Jan. through mid-Feb (but not Martin Luther King weekend or Presidents Day weekend).

Since the OP is not American I will expand upon the previous post:

MLK Day is always on a Monday in mid-January, President's Day is the 3rd Monday of Feb.

I usually type Easter 2006 (whatever year next) and see what day Easter falls onto. So I am scheduling around it. Works every time. Kids have too short of a break anyway so they will miss school. School clendar also helps. Look at last year how was it arranged and get an idea...never presise though lol

None of the schools or colleges in my state, public or private, plan their spring break around Easter. Public schools and colleges get one week in February starting on the third Monday (Presidents Day) and a week starting the third Monday in April (Patriots Day). My daughter's college friends had spring breaks varying from end of February to end of March.

If you go to disboards.com, and use the search feature, you can find lots of polls from past years, asking when everyone's spring break is. We live in Texas and ours is typically around March 11-18. Whereever we vacation, we see other spring breakers - and they all seem to be from Texas.

In much of New England, public school kids get a week starting with the 3rd Monday in February (Presidents Day). Then they get a week sometime in April - for Massachusetts and Maine it is the week starting with the third Monday in April. Easter does not factor into it. Anytime inbetween might be school vacation for some public school. Colleges and many private schools do 1-2 weeks in March.

So last week in April thru mid-May is usually safe, as is beginning of February.

Typically here in Charleston, schools observe Spring Break the before or the week after Easter. This also tends to be the case for most of the schools in South Carolina. So if you plan a trip here around Easter, you may find it a little crowded.
