Sounds like male travelers in N.O. get to experience the same thing that women experience all the time -- never consume much liquid in public, because even if you find a bathroom, there will be a looooong, slow line to use it!

Back to the discussion though, just how many people, male or female, do you see drinking and behaving "responsibly" in New Orleans? The laws and atmosphere encourage irresponsibility. How many place allow you to wander the public streets while openly consuming alcohol? How many cities allow businesses to sell "hits" of nitrous oxide gas to people? How many places allow and encourage indecent exposure and legal brothels? Does this sound like a place where "responsible" people will flock? You have to be realistic here.

LEGAL BROTHELS? Where might those be located?

I see people drinking responsibly in New Orleans every single day. It can be done by responsible people. If you don't want to be resposible, that's fine but don't blame New Olreans for irresponsible behavior. New Orleans provides an atmospher for fun, and if people can't control themselves, it's their fault.

My God, can you people please stop arguing back and forth about piss? Get back to work.

Once again, I have to agree with Meg. I can't rationally understand why the fact that we can "roam the streets" with a can of beer necessarily contribues to a breakdown of public morals.

Next time I'm at Jazz Fest or a Saints game I'll remember that it's the state's fault that the restroom numbers aren't in my favor and this means I'm free to pee in public. Please!

John - I'm going to have to walk down the street and visit you one of these days.

We're coming to New Orleans in September. Outside of Kal being first, Meg and John are definitely two people I'd love to walk down Bourbon Street to meet!!

..We went to NO for New Year's this year. Everyone is right, use commom sense. We did not encounter any scam artists, however...do no go out of the French Quarter after dark (past N. Rampart St.) it is really not safe there at all. Even though there are a few jazz clubs there, be careful!
