Is Phoenician worth it?
Taking a spring break trip to AZ. Looking at staying at the Phoenician for three nights. We have two teenagers with us, ages 17 and 15. Looked at their Casita, very expensive. Is it worth the money, only husband golfs? Thanks.

Stayed there several times for corporate meetings, it's lovely. The casitas are located all over the property, they can be quite a distance and very private. Not good for us trying to make meeting times, but could be very romantic! Also stayed there one summer with the family for a song, as it was 110 degrees in the shade!

Yes. It is worth the price.

We stayed at the Phoenician last summer with teens and got great rates because it was out of season. The hotel is absolutely lovely, the service wonderful and the grounds beautiful. The moment you sit down at the pool an attendant covers your chair with a fresh towel and brings a pitcher of ice water. The pools are great and our youngest loved the water slide. We had dinner there two nights and both meals were fantastic. That said, do take plenty of money if you go - even with the cheap rooms everything else was very expensive. I've gotten used to business class hotels with coffee in the rooms and free workout rooms and complimentary breakfast, and that does not happen at the Phoenician. You can get free coffee if you walk to one of the restaurants in the main building, which means getting dressed and cleaned up. To use the workout facilities you must join the spa for $20 a day, and the cheapest breakfast I saw was $5 for a plain bagel. So it's really a matter of what you want and how you feel about spending money. If you do go you will certainly have a wonderful time.

I visited in August with another couple and we agreed that it was the finest Resort we have ever experienced. Staff, grounds, facilities are all 5 star, but I question whether it would be worth the investment related to your teens. Not much there for them to be entertained with and very spread out. Nothing within walking distance. Lots of money if all you are going to do is sit around a pool.

We stayed at the Phoenician several years ago on business with our kids (younger). There is a great pool with a slide. It is a very nice hotel. We had a regular room which was very plush. There is shopping nearby(by car) which is upscale. There was also this Rodeo cowboy and indian place. It was kind of lame, but my kids were young. I think you can relax very nicely at the Phon. for three nights. There is also a spa there if anyone is in need of a massage or manicure!

We stayed there w/two young teens for 3 nights. Went to one baseball game, and all of us climbed Camelback mountain right behind the resort. My kids still talk about that trip and they loved the resort. They liked the pools (esp. the endless edge pool by our room, I htink it was the Canyon pool) and the service and our patio that overlooked the golf course, as we did. My husband and I got massages at the spa. Good dinner at the restaurant by the golf course. We want to go back.
