Is Lago Mar a dated property?

Hello,
Can anyone tell me if Lago Mar is a dated property? It gets pretty good users ratings (4.5 out of 5*). But the exterior pictures look old and worn.

I have to be honest, I like to stay at Hyatt or Marriott that are not dated.

I don't mean to sound high maintance, but I don't want to spend $200+ a night on a dated resort.

Can anyone give me any thoughts?

2 Queen beds are a must and Marriott in Ft Lauderdale only offers 2 doubles.

We are a family of 3 and our daughter will be 9 years old.

Thank you!

Which Marriott in Fort Lauderdale? Harbor Beach?

Yes, Harbor Beach

I have stayed at the Lago Mar several times (actually for work believe it or not, the owners were a client of my firm and we got a reduced rate there). I thought the rooms and especially the bathrooms were nice - most with some kind of balcony, etc. The decor was probably late 1990's - but I really don't think it was "worn" especially. The location is good and the couple times I walked on the beach it was nice. If it has the bed configuration you need - I'd go for it.

It was dated when we used to stay there every year in the 80s but oh, the location and beach! Way back then it was like going back in time 30 years with the longtime, returning clientele, music, etc. I expected to see the Brat Pack wandering down the halls at 3 am. I have no idea what the decor is now or how worn it may be, but I'd go back in a flash if I could. Other ideas = the Four Seasons Palm Beach(still my favorite, small, luxurious, pool and beach just steps away from the rooms) or closer to Fort Lauderdale, the Boca Raton Resort and Club http://waldorfastoria3.hilton.com/en...html?WT.srch=1

I would prefer the "dated" Lago Mar to any Marriot or Hyatt anywhere. The ambiance of this place is a little gem with a little bit of history. Eager to please and friendly staff are unmatched. So looking forward to returning. The private beach is worth the extra money. I dislike beaches where people wander up and down all day long.

lovelucy: why topping these old threads??

I don't know why she topped, but the info is something I am interested in, so happy to have it pop up.

I love the Lago Mar. Big rooms, great beach and not the mob scene of the Marriott Harbor Beach. Free parking, too.

lovelucy: Glad you topped this. Janisj is the topping police and patrols all the forums looking for violations.

Perhaps the "dated" things are actually posters here?
