Is it swimming weather in Scotsdale in March?
I looked at a weather website and found it is about 75 degrees in Scotsdale in March. Is the pool water heated at most resorts ? Looking at Westin , Hyatt or Camelback Inn. Also looking at going to Tucson. Would the weather be colder there?

I have been several times in Tucson by end of December, in January and in February.
Each time the weather was beautiful and the pools were heated. We stayed at Westward Look Resort (in fact, three pools and a number of spas) and, once, at a low-priced motel. So, expect best conditions in March. You will enjoy southern Arizona. |
Tucson in March is likely to have highs in the 80's. It's a nice month to visit. Yes, pools are heated at resorts.

We were in Scottsdale in late March last year, and the weather was in the high 70's -low 80's and the pool water was heated. It was perfect, not too hot for a little hiking or horseback riding, but warm enough for swimming and lounging.
Enjoy! |
Thanks for the information on weather. Is a day trip to Tucson from Scotsdale feasible? Or, should we plan staying in Tucson? Looking for sites to see and things to do. We will have a 19 year son travelling with us in March. Thanks for any advice

It is swimming weather during sunlight hours. The pool is only swimmable if it is heated.
For unheated Arizona pools, the estimated temperature is the average daily temperature ( (max+min)/2 ) minus 10 degrees. This fairly accurate except for July and August (higher humidity during these months invalidates this formula) |
Tucson is about 120 miles one way so only you can decide if a day trip is something you want to do.
It is very much possible but depending on what you want to do in Tucson or surrounding area you may find the drive back not ideal for somebody that may be tired from the day's activities. |
If it were me, I'd skip Scottsdale and stay in Tucson. For a vacation, Tucson is far more scenic, easier to get around and has more to do IMO.
If you're into high end shopping, Scottsdale is the better choice. |
I like both places, and I did a one day trip to Tucson. I enjoyed it, and thought one day was perfect. The drive down was nice...

Thanks so much for the information everyone!
