Is it possible to transfer from Oakland airport to SFO airport in 1 hr?

For folks familiar with the Bay Area, is it easily doable to take a taxi from Oakland airport to SF airport in 1 hour on a Monday night?
My flight will arrive in Oakland at 845pm on a Monday and then I will transfer to SFO airport for an international flight at midnight.

Would I be able to get to the check-in at SFO by 10 or 10:15pm?

Should I reroute the prior flight to SFO airport instead for extra cost (~250 for us)?

Thanks.

You shouldn't have any problem getting from OAK to SFO by taxi. It ought to take 40 minutes or less (I live just south of SFO and make the trek to OAK occasionally).

Yes, but what happens if your flight is late by an hour? Then you have no realistic option to get to the airport in time for check-in (and this all assumes carry-on only for your luggage). It's not something I'd risk with only 3 hours between flights and the second being an international flight. Not under any circumstances in any city in the world (frankly, not even if I had to transfer between La Guardia and JFK, which is an area I know well).

Thanks for the advise. I used to live in Oakland and driving to SFO in 1 hr is usually OK, unless there is a problem with traffic (esp on the bridge).

I know I am cutting it close for time and traffic and flight delay are so unpredictable. I guess I just need to swallow the cost and reroute to SFO instead.

My nerves couldn't stand it. I'd pay the 250 and reroute.

FWIW, I wouldn't do it either -- I was just responding to the specific question!

Yeap, the consensus is to go SFO then. Thank you all for the advise!

In my book, the extra $250 would be worth the peace of mind.

What if first flight is late? What if your luggage is late? 3 hours between flights in 2 airports - I would not risk it.
