Is it just me or is anyone else having technical difficulties with Fodors?

I believe it comes from all the Flags that Scarlet got started in her 4th of July post!

Seriously, what kind of problems?

Occasionally it seems a bit slow to open messages but I attribute that to net traffic.

Statia Jul 1st, 2004 08:52 AM

I haven't had any problems today, GoTravel.

I've got a new high speed internet hook-up and thought that wasn't working right. Yesterday it could take as long as two minutes for a page to load here--is that what you've been experiencing GoTravel?

GoTravel Jul 1st, 2004 09:26 AM

My problem is that none of the posts will display. The entire left side is empty.

If you are going to fodors through aol, blame it on aol. I know about going through internet explorer and that is certainly better, but I am at my wits end with aol. I'm going to try Comcast High Speed. Any suggestions or helpful comments? Thanks.

No, haven't had trouble, GoTravel. Do you have enough Active Memory on your PC? Someone once told me that was why some pages wouldn't load properly...anyway, I doubt it's a Fodor's thing, unfortunately for you. If all else fails, try calling your ISP...good luck!

I have Comcast cable with AOL. Internet Explorer works just fine that way. Note I changed my AOL account to BYOA (Bring Your Own Access) which is much less monthly.

Christina Jul 1st, 2004 09:51 AM

I was having some problems with Fodors a week or so ago, and then they were down for a day or more, also. However, I have had no problem at all this week and definitely not today.

So, I think it is your computer or ISP.

Christina Jul 1st, 2004 09:54 AM

oh, I have an AOL account at home, also, and just never use the AOL browser to access Fodors (or some other things, actually). You can easily use a regular MSIE browser on regular AOL, you don't have to use their browser.

I've never had any problems using regular MSIE for Fodors when on AOL.

I agree that is ridiculous, though, to not be able to access a major web site through AOL. Their browser is terrible, although I think there is something they are doing to it, obviously. I think I had problems with some other web sites when using AOL's browser, also, and learned that a long time ago.

I have Comcast cable also, no problems here, other than the power in the neighborhood going off every few minutes.

placeu2 LOL I liked all my pretty flags **==

GoTravel Jul 1st, 2004 09:56 AM

No, I don't have AOL.

For a while, I couldn't get any of the posts to appear. None of the threads.

Now it is working just fine.

travelinwifey Jul 1st, 2004 10:25 AM

I had problems earlier this morning, got the "this page cannot be displayed" for a few minutes but is working fine now.

FainaAgain Jul 1st, 2004 10:56 AM

I had problems yesterday, it was deadly slow to open, I thought Fodor's gods punishing me for not posting anything while on vacation ((@))

travelinwifey Jul 1st, 2004 10:59 AM

Now all the posts are showing up looong on the left hand side.

seetheworld Jul 1st, 2004 10:59 AM

I'm having a problem with slow to appear posts on the left side as well - but it comes as goes.

Loki Jul 1st, 2004 11:12 AM

Yeah, the left pane sizing/wrapping is screwy for me. Happens from time to time.
