Is Hearst Castle worth the detour?

Will be taking the coastal drive along highway 101 and 1. Is Hearst Castle worth the stopover?
Thanks for any opinion!

Yes, especially if you're already on hwy 1. It's right off hwy 1. You park your car and ride the bus up. Also, Cambria has a nice hostel that is an old small victorian house. The price is right for Cambria.

Absolutely. It's an incredible place. Beautiful buildings and grounds. Fascinating history. Since you're on 1, it's not realy a detour.

Go, go, go. We visited on an extremely foggy day and it was still wonderful!

Even if you're jaded by over-exposure to the great homes of Europe, the setting will impress you.

YEs I needed to hear that. I've been to Europe many times and visited many of the famous aritecture. So, I wasn't sure at first if I will be equally if not more excited to visit Hearst Castle. thanks :)
