Is Greenville, SC driving distance to Charleston, SC?
We have tickets with American that we need to exchange. We would like to see Charleston, but it seems American only flies to Greenville.
Does anyone know if Charleston is within driving distance of Greenville? Also, can anyone tell me if there is a "driving distance" web tool like Michelin that is for the US?

According to Mapquest (www.mapquest.com), Greenville and Charleston are about 213 miles apart, and it takes three and a half hours to drive between the two. Do you consider that a reasonable amount of time?

Of course the driving time is highly dependent on the time of day you attempt to drive. If you try to go through Columbia at 8 AM, you will be caught up in traffic. Otherwise, I 26 is a fairly straight highway with traffic that moves right along.
It can be full of trucks, however.
I would figure the 3 hour plus time to be accurate, except for schedles that encounter rush hour traffic. Greenville can be a little of a problem, as can Charlestown itself.
But none of them can rival Atlanta!!

I agree w/ the 3 hour estimate. I live 30 minutes north of Greenville, and this summer made a Charleston day trip (there & back in the same day). I probably wouldn't do that again, but it was definately do-able. It's an easy drive, interstate the whole way, and then I26 just ends at Charleston.
You can use Mapquest.com, but the driving instructions should go like...I85 to I385(toward Columbia) to
I26(toward Charleston) and then follow signs as I26 ends to the particular street you want in Chas.
For reference in avoiding rush hour in Columbia(which is really not that big of a deal on the interstate), it will take you about 1:30 from the GSP airport to Columbia.
