is end of October too late for foliage?
Obviously, no one can predict the future, but based on any prior experiences, do you think the last week of October is too late for foliage viewing in the White Mountains?
The Yankee Foliage website makes it look pretty "past peak", but I wasn't sure if the trees would be completely barren or how cold it might be.
Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

sorry, but definitely too late in the White Mountains. Probably too late everywhere in New England but we have not yet had a frost so fall could stretch out a bit this year. But your only hope would be southern and coastal areas.

You might get luck in the southern coastal areas. I've seen decent (not great) foliage as late as Oct 23 in Rhode Island. There's a gorgeous tree in my NH yard that is slowly turning. With the predicted hot weather not sure if peak color will be a little late. Normally Columbus Day weekend is the big foliage weekend for NH south of the mountains.

Being a native New Englander, who has hiked up and down nearly every hill and dale in NH, it is definitely too late to view the foliage at the end of October. My wife and I visited the White Mtns, last year, in early October, and the foliage was at its peak then.
