Is CityPass worth it for the "line skipping" privileges?
 

After reading about the very long lines that are possible, I am considering the CityPass for the "line skipping" but I am not sure if the "fine print" really means it saves time. Does anyone have experience with CityPass? We do plan to do 5 of the 6 of attractions (Circle Line cruise, Empire State, TOTR, MET, AMONH - not MoMA).
This is what it states on their website:
"Skip Most Ticket Lines - Often, CityPASS booklet holders can skip main ticket lines. Below, find details about how to enter each attraction as quickly as possible. Keep in mind that some lines, such as security checkpoints, are unavoidable. You may encounter a line when you exchange a CityPASS e-ticket for a CityPASS booklet at the first attraction you visit. "
These are the options below and you have 9 days to use it. The cost is $79 for adults and $59 for kids (plus $1 per ticket to get an e-ticket).
Empire State Building
The Metropolitan Museum of Art
American Museum of Natural History
MoMA (The Museum of Modern Art)
Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island OR Circle Line Cruise
Top of the Rock OR Guggenheim Museum

I would skip the Empire State building and do MoMa instead.

I was thinking about it but I have kids ages 10 - 17 and I don't want to overdo the museum. I want them to appreciate them but if I push too hard with the museum, I may turn them off for future museum visits. Teens/tweens are a funny age and you just never know!

Do you recommend the pass?

The place with the longest lines is the ESB and you can buy that on it's own online in advance and accomplish the same thing. The ONLY way to get through lines quickly for SOL/Ellis Island is to buy tickets directly from them at a specific time (first ferry of the day is fastest) on statuecruises.com

You can also buy TOTR tickets in advance online. So NO, it's not worth it to skip lines.
