Is Business on Southwest a different seat?

I gather one business option gives you more ff credits but is there any other benefit? Better seats?

Andrew Jan 24th, 2008 04:19 PM

Southwest is starting a program whereby you can board first if you pay a business fare, but it's not really a better seat, more "first come first served" and you can be close to first, grab the exit row or whatever. Of course, if the flight you are boarding is a continuing flight that already has some passengers on it, the passengers on it already probably have the best seats snagged before you get on.

nope - all seats are the same. There isn't a separate BC section.

was posting the same time as Andrew . . . .

"Business" is just their new name for "non-refundable" fare, plus a few perks thrown in like an "A" boarding pass. But as Andrew and janisj said, the seats are the same ol' size and the cabin layout hasn't changed.

Those Business Select tickets are fully refundable. You get 2 Rapid Reward credits and are guaranteed an A boarding seat, usually top 20 unless for some reason there are a ton of Business Select travelers on your flight...of course if it's a connector, the better seats will already be taken.

milemarker is correct. I mistakenly said "non-refundable" rather than "refundable", which was what I was thinking. (Must be Fri - brain and fingers aren't working today).

And you can hop on an earlier flight during the day that your flight is scheduled........of course there's never an empty seat!

Wow, a free drink , Rapid Rewards credit and your choice of seat, all for just $500extra round trip. Does anyone actually fall for this rip-off?

<<Does anyone actually fall for this rip-off?>>

sometimes....

A couple of months ago I had to make a rather unexpected, last minute trip to New Orleans. The price difference between Business Select and the only other fare was minimal (maybe $10). SO - I went with Business Select. Didn't have to worry about checking in 24 hours ahead of time, got my seat up front, enjoyed my free drink, and got my extra FF credits!

Would I fly it normally? No. But I can see it making sense in certain circumstances.
